Motivation

Circular value creation requires not only new production processes, but also solutions for tracing resources and products, as well as the establishment of circular business models.

In existing production and organizational systems with historically grown processes, complex interactions between different organizations, organizational units, strategic objectives, and business models must be taken into account. The lack of holistic approaches to addressing this challenge prevents manufacturing companies from pursuing a targeted transformation.

Objectives and Approach

The aim of the TRANSFORM-R research project is to develop a methodological decision-making framework that systematically captures and analyzes data from heterogeneous sources, particularly product, production, and market data. This enables informed decisions on end-of-use strategies within existing industrial structures.

The decision-making framework includes design patterns for second-life-based value propositions, a framework for technical condition assessment and thus for selecting the most suitable R-strategy, as well as solution approaches for managing diverse business model portfolios.The project will develop a hybrid platform architecture that integrates a wide range of IT infrastructures into a unified environment. This architecture will enable the data-based further development of business models and the implementation of circular value creation strategies.

Innovations and Perspectives

TRANSFORM-R is characterized by its holistic, cross-sectoral approach. By integrating technical feasibility, economic viability, and market acceptance, suitable end-of-use strategies and second-life business models can be identified and aligned.

This supports the establishment of circular value creation. The diversity of products represented within the consortium strengthens the generalizability of the results and offers transfer potential for further fields of application.
